Are you a worry wort? Do you worry and stress about worrying and stressing? Does it stop you from getting to sleep?? When you are a worrier and it keeps you from sleeping … not only do you worry and stress about the issues causing the worry but then you worry and stress about not sleeping and how tired you are going to be the next day. Experts have said that 60 to 80% of sleep problems are rooted in worry, anxiety and stress. PERMISSION TO WORRY AND STRESS GRANTED. If, this is you, then I’d like to give you permission to have that worry … that stress … But NOT all day and night!!!It’s perfectly normal to worry and stress over legitimate causes … but you still need to sleep so Id like to suggest that you award yourself a “WORRY WINDOW” during your day. Find a quiet time and place to give your concerns time and headspace … You could make a note of your concerns or you could speak them out loud in your quiet place. Set yourself a time limit of 15 or 20 minutes so that once you have considered your worry and or concern, you leave them behind in the “WORRY WINDOW” to be viewed again at a later time if necessary. You may find that a solution emerges or you realise that whatever it was actually wasn’t worth the energy you were expending over it. At the end of the time period of the “WORRY WINDOW” you can then focus your energy for a period on more positive thoughts and what actually matters in your day-to-day life.
